Communicating the Gospel to a Postmodern Generation: Challenges and Opportunities

It is not intended here to examine postmodernism as a philosophical framework or to enter into the debate as to the extent of its influence in academia. The concern in this article is to focus on its impact as a cultural phenomenon in the lives of ordinary Australians. In this context, the cultural shift is also aligned with the reality of a post-Christian society. There is no intention to investigate either phenomenon exhaustively but simply to make some general comments in order to provide a setting for discussion on communicating the Christian gospel to a postmodern congregation.
